Desire is hard to put into words, let alone photographs. Here there is so much emotion filling a rather small frame, and the gesture of his hand on her neck creates tension in the image. It is so gentle, and yet she is so vulnerable. Every couple has a private language, the way they speak to each other and touch each other when no one else is around. I love to be present and so close to my subjects and still capture such an intimate moment. To get this frame, I shot a lot—so much, in fact, that I think they were able to almost forget I was there. There was a window to the right of them, but it didn’t provide a lot of light.
